The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has restored its recognition of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), following corrective measures taken by the Institute and its Chief Executive Officer, Eric Oduro Osae.

In a letter dated 8th January 2026, signed by Jerry Sarfo, Director of Corporate Affairs at GTEC, acknowledged that ICAG had addressed concerns relating to a previous quality assurance breach, including the use of an unearned “Dr” title by its CEO.
The Commission confirmed that the rectification of misleading information previously published satisfied its requirements.
“Consequently, the recognition of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) is hereby restored with immediate effect,” the letter stated.
The restoration means that all professional certificates issued by ICAG from the date of reinstatement are now officially recognised by the Commission.
GTEC also extended congratulations to Mr. Oduro Osae on his appointment as ICAG CEO, wishing him success in his new role.
In response, ICAG had earlier communicated that it had taken the necessary steps to align with GTEC directives, emphasizing the Institute’s commitment to transparency, accuracy, and professional conduct.
The resolution brings an end to weeks of uncertainty surrounding ICAG’s accreditation and highlights the importance of adherence to Ghana’s tertiary education quality assurance protocols.
