The Children’s Support Fund, established in the aftermath of the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash, has crossed the GH¢10 million threshold, underscoring a sustained wave of solidarity for the families left behind.

The government announced on Saturday, February 28, that the Fund has so far received GH¢10,150,495.00 and an additional US$20,000.00 in donations. The contributions were mobilised between October 17, 2025, and February 7, 2026.
The Fund was created to secure the long-term welfare of the children of the eight victims who lost their lives in the crash while travelling to a mining-related engagement in the Ashanti Region. The tragedy shook the nation, claiming the lives of senior government officials and members of the flight crew.
Among those who perished were the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; and Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Muniru Mohammed Limuna. Also killed were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Samuel Sarpong, the NDC Vice-Chair, and former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye.
In its update, the government highlighted what it described as “broad public and institutional support” for the initiative. Major corporate and institutional contributors include Ghana Reinsurance, the Ministry of Tourism, Vitol Ghana Services Limited, Kosmos Energy Ghana, the Ministry of the Interior, and the staff of the Office of the President. Numerous individuals and professional groups have also made donations.
Officials say the Fund is designed to provide sustained financial assistance, including educational and welfare support, to ensure that the children of the deceased are cared for in the years ahead.
Donations remain open. Contributions can be made through Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, with dedicated accounts available in both Ghana Cedis and US Dollars.
Cheques and bank drafts are payable to CHILDREN SUPPORT FUND 6825, while mobile money options have also been activated to encourage wider public participation.
Government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of the Fund, noting that the collective generosity shown so far reflects a shared national resolve to stand by the families of those who lost their lives in service.
