“I am a man of steel, not noise” – Adutwum declares as he files NPP flagbearer nomination

Former Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has officially filed his nomination to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position.

Dr. Adutwum submitted his forms at the party’s national headquarters in Accra on Thursday, August 28, 2025, accompanied by a large crowd of supporters.

Addressing delegates and supporters after completing the process, he assured that his campaign would focus on issues rather than personal attacks.

“I will run a campaign of respect and dignity, without insults. My focus will be on my record of service and the vision I carry for Ghana,” he said.

Responding to critics who question his temperament for leadership, Dr. Adutwum insisted that his calm nature should not be mistaken for weakness.

“I am a man of steel. Strength is not about noise or insults, but about results, resilience, and the ability to deliver when it matters most,” he stated.

Outlining his agenda, the Bosomtwe legislator highlighted what he called the “Adutwum factor,” describing it as a mission to improve living conditions and tackle poverty.

“The Adutwum factor is about waging war against poverty. Our country deserves leadership that opens opportunities and transforms lives,” he told the delegates.

On the economy, Dr. Adutwum emphasized that his policies would be people-centered.

“The only economic policy I will implement is your prosperity. Every decision I take will be guided by how it improves the lives of our citizens,” he added.

Dr. Adutwum joins a growing list of aspirants who have filed to contest the NPP flagbearership, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Kwabena Agyapong, and Bryan Acheampong. The party’s presidential primaries are scheduled for January 31, 2026.
