IGP deploys reinforcements after deadly Sampa clashes

The Ghana Police Service says calm has been restored in Sampa, Bono Region, following violent chieftaincy-related clashes on Wednesday, September 10, that left one person dead and several others injured.

In a statement, the Police confirmed that reinforcement teams had been deployed to the area to stabilise the situation and prevent further disturbances.

“We have since restored calm, beefed up security, and intensified patrols within Sampa and surrounding communities,” the statement noted.

The Inspector-General of Police ordered the deployment after reports of sporadic violence in the town. Residents say tension had been building for weeks before it escalated into open clashes.

Authorities say investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that triggered the incident, although the identities of the deceased and injured have not yet been disclosed.
