The Minister of Health designate,Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, has dismissed allegations of operating unlawfully within the Health Ministry despite delays in his confirmation by Parliament. Concerns have been raised regarding the legality of his involvement in the ministry’s affairs while awaiting parliamentary approval.

However, speaking at a press conference in Accra, Dr. Okoe-Boye reaffirmed his legitimacy, citing official documentation from the Presidency supporting his role. He clarified that he, along with a select group of colleagues, had been designated by the Chief of Staff as representatives of the President at various ministries to ensure continuity and prevent disruptions, particularly in critical sectors like healthcare.
“Because His Excellency the President doesn’t want the country to stall, in a bid to prevent some key sectors like health from suffering from lack of direction, some of us, let me be specific to myself, have received letters from the Chief of Staff making us representatives. I am the representative of His Excellency the President at the Ministry of Health.”
