Interior Minister renews Nkwanta curfew

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has renewed the curfew on Nkwanta Township and its surrounding communities in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, effective Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The revised curfew will be in place daily from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., based on advice from the Oti Regional Security Council and enforced through an Executive Instrument.

In a statement, the Minister appealed to chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to remain calm and resort to peaceful, non-violent means in addressing challenges facing the area.

A total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons in the township also remains in force. Security agencies have cautioned that anyone found violating the ban will be arrested and prosecuted.
