Residents in Tema, Ashaiman, and several parts of Accra will experience a three-day water supply interruption following emergency repair works at the Kpong Treatment Plant.

The Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) confirmed on Thursday, August 28, 2025, that damage to the raw water transmission pipeline serving the Kpong facility had forced a shutdown to allow urgent repair works.
“The repair work, which has since commenced, is expected to last for three days. Consequently, there will be a temporary interruption in water supply until the work is completed,” GWL said in a statement.
Areas to be affected include the entire Tema Metropolis and parts of Accra such as Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, and sections of East Legon, among other surrounding communities.
GWL advised customers to store enough water while the supply is still available and encouraged essential service providers, particularly schools and hospitals, to reach out for support through its toll-free lines, WhatsApp numbers, and social media handles.
