The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group of Companies.

He passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, after a short illness.
In a statement signed by the Party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP described Apostle Safo as more than a religious leader and philanthropist, hailing him as an innovator who embodied “local ingenuity, innovation, and the can-do spirit of the African.”
Nicknamed the “Star of Africa,” Apostle Safo was celebrated as a generational inventor, agriculturist, and industrialist. His pioneering work led to the establishment of the KOSA network of companies and the Kantanka Group, including Kantanka Automobile, a wholly Ghanaian-owned automobile manufacturer regarded as one of Africa’s leading technology conglomerates.
The Party also highlighted his longstanding support for the NPP, particularly in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, where his daughter, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, served three terms as a Member of Parliament on the Party’s ticket.
“The NPP is deeply saddened by his passing and extends its condolences to the bereaved family, the Kristo Asafo Mission, and the rest of the nation for the painful loss of this extraordinary, illustrious citizen,” the statement said.
The NPP prayed for comfort for the bereaved family and followers of Apostle Safo, noting that his legacy of innovation, faith, and service to Ghana will remain an enduring inspiration.
