“Mahama commits GH¢150m to empower youth under Adwumawura” – Raymond Bidema

The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) says the Adwumawura initiative has been deliberately structured to include young people from all educational backgrounds, with special emphasis on women and persons living with disabilities.

Speaking on Off The Lens on Online Times’ YouTube channel, Director of Corporate and Legal Affairs at NEIP, Raymond Bidema, Esq., explained that the programme categorises applicants based on their educational background to ensure no group is excluded.

“It will interest you to note that under Adwumawura, we have categorisation. We have people who have not gone to school at all, alpha. We have beta and then gamma. So once you are Ghanaian, from any walk of life, you can be enrolled in the Adwumawura programme,” he said.

Raymond Bidema disclosed that President John Dramani Mahama has directed that 60 percent of beneficiaries should be women and persons living with disabilities, with the remaining 40 percent allocated to men, describing the approach as a clear demonstration of the programme’s inclusivity.

“The President has instructed that 60 percent should be people living with disabilities and women. You can see the inclusivity of the programme for the youth of Ghana,” he noted.

He further revealed that the government has committed GH¢150 million through NEIP to support the rollout of Adwumawura this year, describing it as a strong signal of political commitment to tackling youth unemployment.

“I want to assure you that Adwumawura has come to stay. It has been designed purposely to help young people get out of unemployment,” Raymond Bidema said.

According to him, NEIP is set to officially launch the Adwumawura application portal in March, after which the programme will be taken directly to communities across the country to ensure nationwide access.

“From March, we are going to launch the Adwumawura portal, inviting all prospective applicants to apply. We shall go down to the grassroots, districts, and communities, to talk to the people about Adwumawura,” he stated.

Raymond Bidema stressed that the programme is non-partisan and open to all eligible Ghanaians, insisting that its focus is national development rather than political affiliation.

“It is not for the NDC or any political party. It is for the good people of Ghana,” he added.
