President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that his government will fully implement recommendations from the investigative report into the 2020 and 2024 election-related violence, promising justice and fair compensation for victims.

The President gave the assurance when executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), led by President Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, paid a courtesy call on him at the Jubilee House.
“Last week, I received the investigative report on the two incidents. It details and catalogues everyone who was affected by the violence and the circumstances that led to it,” President Mahama revealed.
He explained that the report has been submitted to the Attorney-General for review and prosecution where necessary. “The Attorney-General will review it and, where necessary, hold people culpable and bring them to book,” he added.
President Mahama stressed that beyond prosecutions, the government was also committed to ensuring that adequate compensation is paid to families of those who died, as well as survivors still grappling with injuries.
“What is the adequate compensation that we can give to people like that?” he asked, noting the government’s resolve to provide relief.
The President further acknowledged that election-related violence had not only harmed innocent citizens and political activists but had also put journalists at risk in the line of duty.
