The Ministry of Education has assured parents, guardians, and candidates that this year’s school placement exercise will be conducted in a fair, transparent, and strictly merit-based manner.

At a press conference held in Accra on Wednesday, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, said the Ministry has taken all necessary steps to ensure that every qualified candidate is placed without fear or favor.
“The 2025 placement exercise will be fair, transparent, and strictly merit-based. Every student will have the opportunity to pursue their educational goals without discrimination,” Prof. Davis stated.
He explained that the placement will be determined using the candidate’s aggregate score from six subjects: four core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies), and the two best elective subjects. In cases where students obtain the same aggregate, the system will rely on raw scores to break the tie.
Addressing concerns about possible corruption in the process, Prof. Davis stressed that the Ministry has adopted a zero-tolerance approach to fraud.
“No payment is required for placement, and no individual has the mandate to influence the system. We urge the public to be vigilant and to report any person attempting to extort money under the guise of being an official of the Ministry, GES, TVET, CSSPS, or Free SHS Secretariat,” he warned.
He further encouraged families to promptly report fraudulent activity to the security agencies for swift action.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to fairness and accountability, assuring all stakeholders that the placement process will strictly reflect the performance of candidates in the 2025 BECE.
