The Minority Caucus in Parliament has condemned what it describes as the National Investigations Bureau’s (NIB) heavy-handed treatment of Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, demanding his immediate release.

In a statement, the Caucus alleged that Kofi Nkansah, who was initially invited by the NIB for questioning, was later picked up from his residence by armed operatives and detained at an undisclosed location.
The Minority described the development as an abuse of power and questioned the manner in which the security agency handled the matter. According to the statement, the actions of the NIB are “politically motivated” and intended to silence critics of the government.
They further called on the authorities to ensure that investigations are carried out in a “civil and dignified manner” in line with democratic principles and the rule of law.
The Caucus also linked the incident to broader national concerns, arguing that the government should instead focus on addressing pressing issues confronting Ghanaians, including delays in payments to cocoa farmers, rising unemployment, and the increasing cost of living.
The Minority maintained that state institutions must not be used to intimidate or harass political opponents.
