Thirty apprentices in the Mion District of the Northern Region have received start-up tools and industrial machines under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) to help them establish their own businesses after completing training.

The handover ceremony was held in Sang, where the District Chief Executive, Hamza Azindoo Moabalyn, said the initiative is part of the government’s efforts to equip young people with employable skills and empower them to become self-reliant through entrepreneurship.
He explained that the programme is designed to reduce youth unemployment and underemployment by providing practical training and the necessary tools for beneficiaries to start their own ventures and contribute to the local economy.
The Member of Parliament for Mion, Alhaji Misbaw Adam Mahama, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the tools to improve their livelihoods.
He also reassured apprentices who were not selected in the first phase of the programme to remain patient, noting that efforts are underway to include them in subsequent phases.
“Those who were not selected in this first phase should remain patient. We are working to ensure more young people benefit in the next rounds,” the MP stated.
The initiative is seen as a key step in fostering entrepreneurship, self-reliance, and local economic development in the Mion District.
