The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has assured the public that there is no need for panic buying of fuel, stressing that the country has adequate petroleum stocks and that the supply chain continues to operate smoothly.

This follows growing public concerns and speculation about the possible impact of developments in the global energy market on fuel supply and pricing in the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday 11 March 26, the Authority emphasized that the national fuel supply situation remains stable and well managed.
“The NPA therefore wishes to reassure the public that there is no cause for alarm or panic buying, as the petroleum supply chain continues to function normally and adequate stocks are available nationwide,” the statement said.
According to the regulator, a comprehensive review of national petroleum stock levels conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition and other industry stakeholders confirmed that the country has sufficient supplies of key petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, aviation turbine kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas.
“Following a comprehensive review of national petroleum stock levels and supply arrangements conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition and key industry stakeholders, the NPA can confirm that sufficient quantities of Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO), Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are available in the country to meet current and projected national demand,” the stamen noted
The NPA added that it continues to monitor stock levels and work closely with industry players to ensure steady fuel supply and maintain stability in the local petroleum market.
“The Authority is also strengthening strategic supply planning and price monitoring mechanisms to mitigate any potential supply disruptions or price volatility arising from developments in the global petroleum market.”
