The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a two-day mid-term break for all basic schools across the country, scheduled for Monday, March 9, and Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

The break comes shortly after Independence Day celebrations on Friday, March 6, an event that traditionally sees active participation from schools nationwide through parades and other commemorative activities.
According to GES, the brief pause in academic work is intended to give both pupils and teachers some time to rest before classroom activities resume.
“School authorities, parents, and guardians are to take note of the dates and ensure that students return to school promptly to avoid any disruption to teaching and learning,” the Service stated in a notice posted on its official Facebook page on Friday, February 27.
Classes are expected to resume fully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The announcement affects all public and private basic schools operating under the GES academic calendar.
