The Northern Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have described the Tamale High Court’s order for a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election as a “travesty of justice,” insisting the ruling does not reflect the will of the people.

According to the party, constituents voted overwhelmingly for the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mathew Nyindam, making the court’s directive inconsistent with what they say were “clear and decisive” electoral outcomes.
Addressing a press conference in Tamale, the regional executives argued that the election in Kpandai was free, fair, and transparent, leaving “no legitimate basis” for a rerun. They claimed the court had effectively validated what they described as politically motivated and unsubstantiated allegations raised by their opponents.
The leadership further warned that subjecting the constituency to a fresh election would impose an unnecessary burden on both the electorate and the electoral system. They maintained that such a move would waste resources and heighten political tensions in a constituency where, in their view, “the choice of the people was already made.”
Yussif Danjuma, the NPP’s Northern Regional Communication Director, reiterated the party’s firm position that “no rerun will take place in Kpandai.”
He said the party would pursue all legitimate avenues to challenge what it considers an unjust ruling, while urging supporters to remain calm and steadfast.
Danjuma assured the rank and file that the party remains united behind Nyindam and will defend the integrity of the Kpandai election and the mandate of its elected representative.
