The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has initiated formal processes to expel former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, following comments he made in a recent television interview describing the party as “fake party” and distancing himself from its membership.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, and signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said it had taken due notice of remarks made by Prof. Frimpong-Boateng during an interview on Channel One TV on Monday, January 12, 2026.
According to the NPP, the former minister openly declared during the interview that he no longer considers himself a member of the party and made what it described as “disparaging remarks” that undermine the party’s values and unity.
“The New Patriotic Party views the conduct and utterances of Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng as highly reprehensible and inimical to the values, unity, and integrity of the Party,” the statement said.
As a result, the party has invoked relevant provisions of its constitution to begin the process of expelling him, stressing that all steps will be taken strictly in accordance with due process.
“Consequently, the Party has invoked the relevant provisions of its Constitution to commence the necessary processes to expel him from the Party, strictly in accordance with due process.”
