NPP Primaries: These parliamentary candidates run unopposed.

According to the party, the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee (NPAC) and the National Parliamentary Vetting Committees (NPVC) recommended this in their recommendations, which were approved by the NEC at its meeting on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

The NPP said three aspirants, Nana Aduse Poku Ahwere of Ahafo Ano South West, Al-Hassan Mahama of Ayawaso Central, and Eric Kwesi Danquah of Upper West Akim, stepped down, while Kennedy Kwasi Kankam of Nhyiaeso has had his candidature challenged in .

Following thorough review of the findings, the party said that the NEC endorsed the recommendations. It stated that it was happy with the findings and agreed to provide the names of the potential applicants.

Meanwhile, attempts by Honourable KT Hammond, Minister of Trade and Industry and MP for the Adansi Asokwa seat, to get all of his opponents disqualified so that he could run unchallenged were useless, as the National Executive Committee rejected his plea.

In a petition to the National Executive Committee, KT Hammond alleged that his opponents, Kwabena Nkansah Asamoah, Samuel Dakwa Binfoh, and Dr. Enoch Acheampong, do not hold party cards and have not performed enough in the constituency to be worthy of representing the people.

He said that they are ineligible to contest the election under Articles 12(4) and (7) of the NPP’s constitution.
However, the National Executive Committee rejected the petition during its meeting on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, allowing the three opponents to compete in the January 27 primaries.
