Over GH¢500K Released to Health Facilities for Free Dialysis Sessions – NHIA

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has disbursed GH¢587,236 to six health facilities to provide free dialysis sessions for kidney patients under 18 and over 60 years old.

This initiative follows the government’s announcement to cover the costs of dialysis treatment for these age groups. The beneficiary health facilities are Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Efia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Ho Teaching Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital

According to the NHIA, these funds will ensure the smooth operation of healthcare services and sustain the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

In a statement released on Sunday, June 30, NHIA confirmed the disbursement and stated that the hospitals will manage the funds and reimburse patients who paid out-of-pocket in June. This marks the first month of the government’s support for kidney patients, with NHIA assuring continued commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare for all.
