Parliament is set to resume sitting on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, marking the commencement of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin announced the date in a Constitutional Instrument issued on Monday, January 19, 2026.
According to the notice, proceedings will officially begin at 12 noon at Parliament House in Accra.
In the instrument, the Speaker exercised the authority vested in him under Article 112(1) of the 1992 Constitution to formally summon Members of Parliament back to the House after the recess.
“I, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, by this Constitutional Instrument, appoints Parliament House, Accra, to be the place, and 12 noon of Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026, to be the time at which the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic shall commence,” the notice stated.
The announcement formally signals the resumption of parliamentary business for the year, with lawmakers expected to consider legislation, oversight responsibilities, and other constitutional duties in the weeks ahead.
