A swift response by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has brought a domestic fire outbreak under control at Kukurizua, opposite Dastech, in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby properties.

The fire incident was reported at 10:08 a.m. on Monday after a distress call was received from LFM Aduko Roland. Firefighters were immediately dispatched at 10:10 a.m. and arrived at the scene within five minutes.
The blaze affected a multiple-room residential structure, damaging fourteen (14) rooms in total. However, the timely and professional intervention of the GNFS crew ensured that four (4) rooms were salvaged.
According to the Service, the fire was brought under control at 10:55 a.m. and fully extinguished at 11:20 a.m., averting what could have been a more devastating situation for the community.
Items destroyed in the fire included parts of the roofing, electronic appliances, and furniture, while mattresses, clothing, and beds were successfully saved due to the rapid response of the firefighters.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, the GNFS said.
The incident was confirmed in a report filed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Upper East Region, on Monday, January 19, 2025.
