Seventh-Day Adventist Church Praises Electoral Commission for Considering Change of National Election Date to November

The Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Ghana has commended the Electoral Commission for its contemplation of moving the national election date from December 7 to a day in November starting from 2028.

Dr. Solace Yawa Asafo, the Communication Spokesperson for the SDA in Ghana, described this decision as a historic moment and a victory for religious freedom. While the adjustment will not take effect this year, it demonstrates a willingness to accommodate diverse religious practices within the democratic framework.

The proposed shift, initiated by the Adventist Church, aims to reschedule the election day to a Tuesday in November, ensuring that all Ghanaians can engage in the democratic process without compromising their religious beliefs. The Seventh-day Adventist Church expressed appreciation for the Electoral Commission’s openness to considering this significant change in the future, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and respect within Ghana’s democratic system.

With a commitment to promoting a democracy that respects the nation’s religious diversity, the Seventh-day Adventist Church looks forward to collaborating with stakeholders to uphold the inclusive principles of Ghana’s democracy.
