The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary has moved into a decisive stage following the close of nominations, with all aspirants successfully filing their forms at the party’s headquarters in Accra.

Vice Chair of the Presidential Elections and Vetting Committee, Abankwa Yeboah, has urged aspirants and their supporters to maintain unity, dignity, and respect as campaigns intensify ahead of the primaries.
Addressing the media, Mr. Yeboah commended the aspirants for adhering to the party’s structures during the filing process.
He reminded candidates that the focus should now shift to sharing ideas and vision with delegates, rather than engaging in personal attacks.
“We expect that these candidates who will be going on the campaign trail will present themselves in such a way that party members will know more about what they have for the NPP, their intentions, their vision, how they will handle situations if given the opportunity, and what they have in store for the nation, Ghana,” he said.
Mr. Yeboah further cautioned supporters to conduct themselves with decorum, stressing that any grievances must be formally directed to the committee for redress. He assured party faithful that complaints would be handled fairly to safeguard unity.
To enhance transparency, he disclosed that an inter-candidate committee, modeled after the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), will be created. Each aspirant will nominate a representative to engage directly with the Elections and Vetting Committee on rules and regulations.
“Going forward, whatever rules and regulations we come out with, whatever decisions we make, will be done with their representatives,” he added.
With nominations now closed, the submitted forms will go through vetting before being presented to the National Council. The final list of eligible candidates is expected to be published by October 8.
Several leading figures, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Bryan Acheampong, and Kwabena Agyepong, have already filed to contest the flagbearership.
