The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Ghana’s Embassy in Tehran will resume operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, following a temporary shutdown earlier this year.

The Embassy was shut down on June 16, 2025, as a precautionary measure to safeguard staff during heightened tensions between Iran and Israel.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry cited improved security conditions in Iran as the reason for reopening.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that with the improvement in the security situation in Iran, a decision has been taken for the Embassy to resume its operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025,” the statement read.
The Ministry said it will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of Embassy staff and the Ghanaian community in Iran, and will provide updates as necessary.
