The Accra Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects linked to the violent clashes at the Omanjor Chief’s Palace during the Homowo Festival on Saturday, August 30, 2025, which claimed three lives and left several others injured.

According to the police, Christian Saka Ahianyevi, a 35-year-old private security officer, and Newton Alotey, a 26-year-old dispatch rider, were picked up on separate days following an intelligence-led operation by the Accra Regional Command and the Special Support Unit from the National Headquarters.
During the arrests, officers retrieved 18 spent BB cartridges from Alotey, while Ahianyevi was found with a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other exhibits. All items have since been secured as part of ongoing investigations.
“The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. We urge all factions and residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies,” the Accra Regional Police said in a statement.
Police have also assured residents of a continued strong security presence in the affected communities while urging anyone with credible information on the remaining suspects to contact emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
