WASSCE 2025: WAEC confiscates invigilator’s phone at Armed Forces SHTS

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has seized a mobile phone belonging to an invigilator, Bright Amoah, at the Armed Forces Senior High Technical School in Accra.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 25, during WAEC’s monitoring exercise at the Burma Camp-based school. The Head of the National Office for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Dr. Rosemond Wilson, has uncovered a case of alleged examination malpractice, where candidates were sitting for their first major paper, Social Studies.

According to WAEC officials, the device allegedly contained already-solved questions from the ongoing WASSCE. Further checks revealed materials from the Oral English and Picture Making papers, which had already been written.

Although those papers were past, WAEC suspects possible foul play, prompting the immediate confiscation of the phone.

Meanwhile, the Examination Centre Supervisor has been directed to submit a report on why an invigilator had a phone in the exam hall, a clear violation of WAEC regulations.
