Unidentified gunmen on Sunday, October 26, 2025, attacked a residence in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region, killing three people and injuring two others, including a popular radio presenter.

The victims, according to eyewitnesses, were caught off guard when the assailants opened fire on their home. Three people, including a five-year-old child, died instantly, while two others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Among the injured is George Bukari, the manager of Binduri-based Maxx Empire Radio and TV, who was said to be at the scene during the attack.

Residents suspect the assault is connected to the long-running Bawku conflict, which has claimed several lives and displaced many families since its resurgence in November 2021.

Meanwhile, in a separate but related incident, a mentally challenged man was reportedly shot dead by military personnel at Daduri, a suburb of Bawku, a development that has further heightened tensions in the area.

Security officials are yet to comment on both incidents as investigations continue.
