Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH) Urges Electoral Commission to Reinstate Use of Indelible Ink for 2024 Elections

The Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH) has issued a fervent appeal to the Electoral Commission of Ghana, urging the reinstatement of the indelible ink for the forthcoming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Expressing deep concerns over recent disputes and violence during the Parliamentary primaries, ADAM-GH emphasized the pivotal role of the indelible ink in safeguarding the integrity and credibility of electoral outcomes. Despite the introduction of various reforms over the years, the indelible ink has remained a steadfast component, effectively curbing incidences of double voting and ensuring the sanctity of elections.

ADAM-GH underscored the alarming implications of the Electoral Commission’s decision to discontinue the use of indelible ink, citing the potential for increased disputes and compromises in the upcoming general elections. To address this pressing issue, the organization has proposed to absorb the entire budget for the procurement of indelible ink, reaffirming its commitment to upholding democratic principles and preserving Ghana’s status as a beacon of democracy.

In light of these developments, ADAM-GH awaits the Electoral Commission’s prompt response, urging swift action to enhance the credibility of the 2024 elections and consolidate democratic gains. The organization has also extended copies of its proposal to the Office of the Speaker of Parliament and the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, signaling a concerted effort to garner support for their cause.
