President Akufo-Addo has named Dr. Da Costa Aboagye, currently serving as the Director of Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service, as the new Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). Dr. Aboagye will be succeeding Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, who has been nominated for the position of Minister of Health.
The appointment, as communicated by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, is in accordance with Section 14(1) of the National Health Insurance Act, 2012 (Act 852). However, it is subject to the receipt of the constitutionally required advice from the governing board of the Authority, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
Recipients of the letter are requested to confirm acceptance or decline of the appointment within 14 days of receipt. The letter, dated 26th February 2024, concludes with the President’s best wishes to Dr. Da Costa Aboagye in his new role.
