NPP Primary Results: Akufo-Addo’s Driver Elected La Dadekotopon Parliamentary Candidate

Longtime driver to President Akufo-Addo,Joseph Addo, has emerged victorious as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for La Dadekotopon.

In a closely contested primary, Addo secured 664 votes, defeating his main rival, Solomon Kotey Niikio, who garnered 555 votes.

The decision to hold the primary came after the resignation of the previously elected candidate, Dr. Gerald Joseph Tetteh, citing personal reasons.

Addo, who has served as President Akufo-Addo’s driver for over two decades, declared his candidacy following Tetteh’s resignation.

Notably, Addo recently donated an office complex on the Ako Adjei Road to the party, addressing the need for a permanent office space, as the party previously operated from a rented apartment.

During the donation ceremony, Addo emphasized his commitment to supporting the party’s efforts to reclaim power from the NDC in the constituency.

This victory comes as the NPP seeks to regain the La Dadekotopon seat, which was lost to the NDC’s Rita Naa Odoley Sowah in the 2020 elections.
