Lt Col Justina Frimpong Donates 100 Mono Desks to Alma Mater to Enhance Teaching and Learning

In a remarkable display of generosity and commitment to education, Lieutenant Colonel Justina Frimpong, the esteemed first female Commanding Officer of the Transportation Battalion Unit within the Ghana Armed Forces, has extended a helping hand to her alma mater.

On Friday, May 10th, 2024, Lt Col Frimpong presented one hundred mono desks to Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua, where she once walked the halls as a student.

The donation, prompted by an appeal from the school authorities during Lt Col Frimpong’s visit for the 67th Independence Day Anniversary celebration, reflects her dedication to fostering a conducive environment for teaching and learning. Moved by the school’s furniture deficit, Lt Col Frimpong pledged support and promised to rally her year group (1999) to assist in any way possible.

Speaking during the donation ceremony, Lt Col Frimpong expressed her deep connection to the school and emphasized her desire to give back, stating, “I owe the school more than what I have given.” Her alma mater, represented by Headmistress Mrs. Diana Akosua Mintah, warmly received the gesture, acknowledging the significant impact the desks will have in addressing the school’s furniture shortage.

In addition to expressing her gratitude, Mrs. Mintah seized the opportunity to appeal to other stakeholders, philanthropists, NGOs, and particularly to Lt Col Frimpong and her year group, for further support. Specifically, she highlighted the urgent need for renovations to the assembly hall roofing and girls’ dormitory washrooms, urging continued collaboration to enhance the school’s facilities.

Lt Col Justina Frimpong’s altruistic act serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to contribute to the betterment of educational institutions and empowering future generations to excel.
