GES Interdicts Three Officials at Somè Senior High School Over Alleged Food Theft

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted three officials of Somè Senior High School in the Volta Region amid an investigation into alleged food theft.

The suspended officials are Richard Ametorxe (Bursar), Yorm Dzikumu (Matron), Alex Obuadi (Storekeeper). Their suspension takes effect immediately.

The investigation began after a search conducted by alumni and the local assembly member on the evening of Friday, May 24, revealed food items, including tin tomatoes, mackerel, cleaning agents, and insecticide spray, in the Matron’s possession.

Additionally, an assistant headmistress and a cook have been arrested for their suspected involvement in a cartel stealing food meant for students. The assistant headmistress is currently in police custody for further questioning.

In a statement released on Monday, May 27, 2024, the GES instructed the interdicted officers to hand over their duties to the Headmaster. An investigative committee has been formed to examine the matter and is expected to submit its report within two weeks.
