Election 2024: Special Voting Set for December 2 – Electoral Commission

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, has announced that special voting for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections will take place on December 2, 2024.

Mrs. Mensa made this announcement during a meeting with the national executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and representatives of the security forces in Accra.

“The special voting will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, in all 275 constituencies across the country,” she stated.

Eligibility for Special Voting

Special voting is intended for eligible voters who will be unable to vote at their registered polling stations on the general election day, December 7, 2024. This includes personnel from Ghana Armed Forces, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), National Security, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Information Services Department, National Ambulance Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Prisons Service, Ghana Journalists Association, Ghana Police Service and National Media Commission.

Announcement of Results

The results of the special voting will not be declared until after the general elections on December 7.

Addressing Collation Errors

Regarding concerns about potential errors in the collation of results, Mrs. Mensa assured that the Commission will implement more rigorous measures, including the use of Excel, to avoid previous mistakes and ensure accurate results.
