NPP primaries: Henry Quartey laments the departure of veteran MPs.

Approximately 28 New Patriotic Party MPs were defeated in Saturday’s parliamentary primary. 18 NPP MPs have previously announced that they will not seek re-election.

The problem is exacerbated by the fact that 18 NDC MPs lost their seats in the 2023 primary elections.

Speaking with Citi News, the Ayawaso Central MP advised freshly elected NPP parliamentary candidates to become acquainted with parliamentary procedures as soon as possible in order to bridge the gap.

“Undoubtedly, losing these giant political luminaries has consequences for Ghana as a country and the Legislature itself. The young ones coming would have to acquaint themselves with parliamentary practices so that they are able to gradually fill the gaps that these giant legislators have left.”
