JM Will Come – Minority Members Chants In Local Dialect.

Minority Chants JM B3ba

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, welcomed dignitaries to the house prior to the State of the Nation Address (SONA), which is scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

The lawmakers applauded as the Speaker introduced the names, with President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia flanking them. The lists got longer, one by one.

But when John Mahama, the ND flagbearer, was announced, the now-seated minority members—who had earlier threatened to abstain from the sitting—erupted into a raucous shout.

Chants in favour of Mr. Mahama broke out for almost five minutes after this. Not even the speaker’s commands to obey brought about serenity.

Five minutes later, the Speaker glared at the NDC side of the aisle and got to his feet.

He declared that he was surprised by the development and threatened to take severe action if it persisted. “Everything that applies to a formal parliamentary sitting is in effect today.

“I am aware that this year is election year. My remarks can deselect many people. Please take heed, and let’s move forward,” he said.

After completing the acknowledgement, Mr. Bagbin invited President Akufo-Addo to continue with his speech.
