Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, clinched victory in the parliamentary primary leading up to the 2024 elections. Mr. Ameyaw-Cheremeh, also serving as the Board Chairman of the Bui Power Authority, is poised to represent his constituents in Parliament for the fifth consecutive term should he secure triumph in the forthcoming 2024 parliamentary elections.
The Sunyani East constituency encountered challenges preventing participation in the NPP’s parliamentary primaries held on Saturday, January 27. Nevertheless, the national leadership of the Party effectively addressed these internal issues and rescheduled the primary to March 9.
In a closely contested election under the supervision of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Ameyaw-Cheremeh secured 460 votes out of the 799 valid votes cast. This victory positions him ahead of his sole competitor, Ambassador George Kumi, a former envoy, securing his place as the NPP’s candidate for Sunyani East in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
