Ejisu by-election comes off today

The Electoral Commission (EC) is gearing up for the by-election in the Ejisu constituency today, Tuesday, April 30th, following the passing of the late Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024.

Kwabena Boateng emerged as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate on April 13, 2024, chosen from a pool of nine contenders. However, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has chosen not to participate in this by-election.

Boateng faces competition from former constituency MP Kwabena Aduomi, who is running independently after parting ways with the NPP.

The EC has assured its preparedness for the by-election. Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Electoral Services, confirmed that all necessary materials are ready for distribution early in the morning. Voting hours will run from 7 am to 5 pm, in line with general election schedules.

Results will be announced at the Coalition Centre, situated at the Catholic Church in Ejisu. Dr. Quaicoe reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to conducting a fair and transparent electoral process.
