The Coalition of La Youth Associations (COLA) has issued a response to a recent Press Release dated 26th September 2023 from the Ghana Armed Forces about land in or around Kpeletso/East Airport, La.
According to COLA, the release by the military is “unfortunate and misleading.” The military’s claim that no directives have been received to permit access to the La Stool’s land is vehemently disputed.
“The heart of the matter lies in the allocation of land parcels dating back to the 1930s and 1940s, with the La Stool asserting ownership over portions currently occupied by the military.”
The statement added, “Despite past agreements and committee deliberations, tensions reached a boiling point when customary rites were performed on the disputed land by the La Stool on September 18th, 2023, further aggravating the situation.”
“COLA is demanding fairness and adherence to the law from the Ghana Armed Forces, warning that any unlawful action could lead to chaos.”
