Julie Essiam Replaces Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah as New GRA Boss

President Akufo-Addo has appointed Madam Julie Essiam as the new Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), succeeding Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah. Prior to her appointment, Madam Essiam served as the Commissioner responsible for the Support Services Division within the GRA.

The decision to appoint Madam Essiam follows the dissolution of the GRA Board, chaired by Dr. Anthony Oteng-Gyasi, amid reports of internal disagreements. This move by the President comes in the wake of criticisms from Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, regarding the GRA’s tax collection strategies and targets.

Madam Essiam has also held key board positions, including roles with Ecobank Zambia and the Global Fund, where she served as President of the Private Sector delegation.
