The Ghana Police Service has apprehended nine individuals across the country for disseminating false information regarding the alleged disappearance of their genitalia, sparking fear, panic, and unwarranted attacks on innocent individuals.
In a statement, the Police revealed that thorough investigations, including medical examinations, conclusively proved all allegations to be baseless.
Six individuals were apprehended in Kasoa, Central Region, two in Ashaiman, Greater Accra Region, and one in Nkawkaw, Eastern Region, for fabricating such claims of missing genitalia.
Five individuals have been arraigned before the court, with three remanded into Police Custody while two were granted bail. The remaining individuals are under Police inquiry bail and will soon face legal proceedings, according to the Police.
Expressing concern, the Ghana Police Service highlighted the alarming trend of individuals falsely reporting the disappearance of their genitalia and wrongfully accusing innocent bystanders, often leading to mob violence. The statement cautioned the public against engaging in such criminal behavior, which not only harms innocent individuals but also disrupts public peace.
