Tragedy struck in Asseseso, a community within the Okere district of the Eastern Region, where three individuals lost their lives in a devastating accident.
According to reports, the accident involved a Toyota minibus registered as GT 5990-21, traveling from Accra to Somanya. The driver, reportedly fatigued, began to doze off while driving, despite efforts by concerned passengers to encourage him to rest during the journey.
Unfortunately, the driver lost control of the vehicle upon reaching Asseseso, resulting in the tragic accident. Out of the 14 occupants onboard, two lost their lives at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment at the Yilo Krobo Government Hospital.
The driver, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to the Atua Government Hospital in Odumase, while ten others received immediate medical attention at the Yilo Krobo Government Hospital in Somanya. Medical professionals later transferred five individuals to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua for advanced care, including three with severe head injuries, one with a spine injury, and another with broken legs.
Updates from the Yilo Krobo Government Hospital indicate that the remaining five patients are responding well to treatment, with one expected to be discharged soon.
