Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and party flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has refuted any allegations of careless spending by the administration of Akufo-Addo. He claims that the NPP administration has wisely used money to launch initiatives that will eventually help the nation. In order to help reduce spending and preserve the public coffers, the vice president announced that he intended to lead a government with fifty ministers. Speaking on Monday, May 27, at the 8th Ghana CEOs Summit in Accra, the NPP flagbearer insisted that government spending cut by three to five percent.
“All of these initiatives, including Ghana.gov and the networking of hospitals, have been led. Therefore, the government does not upload and pay in advance. And I would like this model to be used.As I’ve said before, I think we should cut government spending by three to five percent. I think I could manage a government with fifty ministers instead of the current setup.
