Ambulance Trial: Dr. Ato Forson Petitions Chief Justice for Live Broadcast

The primary defendant in the ongoing ambulance trial, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has petitioned Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to allow a live broadcast of the remaining proceedings.

This request, filed on Thursday, May 30, 2024, was made on behalf of Dr. Forson, the minority leader, by his legal team.

Dr. Ato Forson explained on his Twitter handle that the move is prompted by recent allegations of misconduct against Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame.

He argued that live broadcasting would ensure transparency and accountability.

“Broadcasting the trial live will ensure transparency and uphold their own informed opinions in and hold participants accountability for their actions,” he stated.

Additionally, Dr. Forson emphasized that public access to the proceedings would help ensure justice is served fairly and impartially.

Dr. Forson also highlighted that live broadcasting would act as a powerful deterrent against future misconduct, as those involved in the legal system would be more likely to uphold the highest ethical standards under public scrutiny.

“I believe that live broadcasting the ambulance trial is essential to ensuring a fair and just outcome. It is in the best interest of both the public and the legal system that these proceedings be conducted with the utmost transparency,” he stated.

He further urged Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to grant his request and allow the public to witness this important trial firsthand.
