Ofaakor Violence: Police Cautions and Bails Three for Firearm Possession

The Ghana Police Service has granted bail to three individuals arrested for possession of firearms without lawful authority at the offices of the Electoral Commission in Ofaakor, located in the Awutu Senya East constituency of the Central region.

In a press statement, the police detailed the charges against the suspects. Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor has been cautioned for transferring firearms without authority, while Abdulai Aziz and Mustapha Mohammed have been cautioned for possession of firearms without authority.

Additionally, the police disclosed that suspect Usman Haruna, who was remanded for stabbing a person during the disturbances, is to reappear on June 19, 2024.

“Investigations are ongoing, while the case docket is being forwarded to the Office of the Attorney-General for study and advice”, the statement concluded.
