Paramount Chief of Ekumfi Denies Delegation to President Akufo-Addo for Atta Mills’ Autopsy Request

The Paramount Chief of Ekumfi Traditional Area, Odeefo Akyin VIII, has denied claims of delegating persons to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to demand the autopsy of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

The family of the late former President, Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, on January 13, 204, asked President Akufo-Addo to provide them with the late president’s autopsy report.

They expressed concern over the unknown cause of his death and emphasized the importance of obtaining the report for closure and historical record.

While addressing a press conference on Monday, Odeefo Akyin VIII said, “To set the records straight, the Paramount Chief Odeefo Akyin VIII has not elected nor delegated anybody nor any group of persons to His Excellency (H.E.) the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo or any other institution to demand an autopsy on the late Professor Mills for us, or on behalf of the family.”

He described attempts by groups and individuals linking the issue to the Ekumfi Chiefs as malicious.

“We therefore want to state emphatically that any attempt to link the Chiefs of Ekumfi to any such action is malicious, untrue and mischievous, and must be treated with the contempt it deserves. Ekumfi Nananom led by the Paramount Chief Odeefo Akyin VIII also wish to send a strong signal to anyone or group of persons purported to come from Ekumfi or elsewhere, and who allow themselves to be used to perpetuate such disgraceful and malicious act, may have to prepare to face the wrath of Nananom.
The late Professor Atta Mills must be allowed to rest in peace.”

The Paramount Chief of Ekumfi also described the ongoing media banter between the family of Prof Mills and other individuals as “appalling and disgraceful.”

“The Nananom of Ekumfi believe that if the extended or any member of the family has issues with the report, they could jaw-jaw with the immediate family to have their disagreement settled once and for all, instead of the recurring media banter. Nananom wish to state that the raging back-and-forth wrangling is not just appalling but also disgraceful and disgusting; projecting the family as a disintegrated one.”

The Paramount Chief of Ekumfi Traditional Area, Odeefo Akyin VIII, has denied claims that he sent people to President Akufo-Addo to request the autopsy report of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

According to him, the family of Professor Mills had asked the President to provide them with the report in order to address concerns over the unknown cause of his death and to provide closure.

However, Odeefo Akyin VIII made it clear in a press conference that he did not delegate anyone to make this request on behalf of the family. He also condemned attempts to link the Ekumfi Chiefs to this issue as “malicious.”

The Chief emphasized that the late President should be allowed to rest in peace and expressed his disapproval of the ongoing media dispute between the family and others, describing it as “appalling and disgraceful.”

He suggested that if there are any disagreements over the report, they should be resolved through discussions with the immediate family rather than through public arguments.
