Ghana Police Service Distances Itself from DCOP Waabu’s Election Security Remarks

The Ghana Police Service has disassociate itself from comments made by DCOP Gabriel Prince Waabu regarding security provisions for the upcoming December general elections. During a panel discussion on JoyNews, DCOP Waabu suggested that only the police, along with other designated security agencies, would be involved in election security, excluding the military.

In response, the Police Service released a statement clarifying that Waabu’s remarks are his own and do not reflect the official stance of the Service. The statement also included an unreserved apology to the Ghana Armed Forces for any misunderstanding or offence caused.

This development underscores the importance of clear and unified messaging regarding election security, emphasizing the collaborative efforts among various security agencies to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
