NPP to hold Agona West Parliamentary Primary on April 13

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is gearing up for its Agona West Parliamentary Primary scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2024.

In a statement released by the National Secretariat and signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua, protocols guiding the conduct of the primary have been outlined to ensure integrity and fairness in the electoral process.

According to the statement, the primary will take place at a single voting center located at Otabilkrom Astroturf in Agona Swedru. The Electoral Commission of Ghana will oversee the election, ensuring transparency and fairness.

Security measures will be managed exclusively by the Ghana Police Service, with access restricted to delegates, appointed election supervisors, contestants, and their accredited agents.

To maintain the integrity of the process, there will be no public speeches or congregations on the voting day, as outlined by the statement. Representatives from both the national secretariat and the region will supervise the election.

“There will be no congregation on the day of voting. Therefore, there shall be no provision to address delegates or the public by any national party executive, any government official, a regional party executive, constituency executives, contestants, or their representatives on the day of the voting.”

The statement also outlines expectations for voters, stating that they are expected to “walk-in” freely by themselves and that there shall be no camping of delegates.

Additionally, delegates will only be escorted to the voting screen in cases of mobility issues and with consent from the Electoral Commission.
