Ongoing Ejisu by-election: Two EC officials captured allegedly receiving bribe removed

The Electoral Commission has swiftly withdrawn two of its temporary staff members after a video surfaced allegedly showing them receiving what appears to be a bribe during the ongoing by-election in the Ejisu Constituency.

In a video circulating on social media an unidentified individual was seen dropping an envelope on the table manned by the Presiding Officer and Ballot Issuer at the Fumesua Pentecost Church Polling Station.

In a statement by the Electoral Commission, has taken immediate action by withdrawing the two temporary staff involved while investigations are conducted.

Mr. Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman of Operations, has reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication in upholding core principles of integrity, truth, and transparency, vowing to sanction any officials found violating its laws.

“The Electoral Commission has taken immediate steps and has withdrawn the two (2) temporary staff while investigations take place.

“The commission upholds the principles and values of integrity, truth and transparency. These values are reinforced during the training of all temporary staff.

“The commission will not countenance acts which cast a slur on the integrity of the institutions and will not hesitate to sanction its officials who violate its laws” the commission stated.
