Mr. Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director of Communication of Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia‘s 2024 Presidential Campaign released an official statement earlier today (Sunday, April 28th, 2024) to announce the beginning of his boss’ nationwide campaign tour, and the statement is full of fantasies; baseless suppositions; false narratives; and outright lies.
The statement, undoubtedly sets the tone for a campaign, which will likely be based on absolute falsehood, with the intent to confuse and hoodwink the electorate, most of whom they believe are gullible. It is therefore important for Ghanaians to be very alert in order not to be deceived and scammed again as was done to us in 2016, and which resulted in electing the worse government (Nana Akufo Addo/Bawumia Govt.) ever in the history of the Republic.
In the 5th paragraph on page 2 of the extremely deceptive statement, Mr. Miracles Aboagye states that:
Dr. Bawumia has shown in these eight years that he has more integrity, discipline, focus, ideas, and solutions than his main opponent showed in his 8 years as Vice President and President.
The above assertion can never be true. This kind of propaganda had worked for the NPP in the run-up to the 2016 general elections when both Bawumia and his boss, Nana Akufo Addo had accused John Mahama baselessly and needlessly, and made very wild and unachievable promises to deceive the electorate. Thank God they have been exposed big time after they have had the chance to rule and their performace is glaring for all to see and feel. Alhaji Bawumia is even acclaimed as the greatest LIAR in Ghana, so how can anyone claim “he has more integrity” than John Mahama? The deceit shall not work this time round. The people are not stupid. The truth is too obvious to all Ghanaians.
Paragraph 6 of the statement, also on page 2, makes absolutely no sense in light of the economic crisis and quagmire the country is in after Alhaji Bawumia has been the head of the Economic Management Team of the nation for the past 8 years. That paragraph states the following absolute hogwash.
It is without doubt that, Dr. Bawumia has proven to be Solutions-oriented and remains committed to finding more solutions to Ghana’s challenges if giving [Sic] the nod as President in the December 2024 elections.
The Battle of Records:
In boldfaced lies and fantasies, Miracles Aboagye states shamelessly that:
There is no denying that there has been global economic challenges, and as a party, we recognize the hardship that this global tragedy has presented to all Ghanaians and the world at large. It is, however, important to remember and highlight the many achievements of the NPP government in these seven years in constituencies and communities. . . . The numbers clearly show that the NPP government has consistently outperformed the NDC government and that it has done so despite historically unmatched global challenges.
Firstly, it is undisputable that Ghana is currently in economic mess. It has also been disputed by economic experts over and over again that the economic mess is solely caused by any global economic challenge. Our economic problems are due to the greed and incompetence of Nana Akufo Addo and Alhaji Bawumia’s government.
Secondly, the numbers never show that the Nana Addo/Bawumia government has outperformed Prof. Atta Mills and John Mahama’s governments. On the contrary, the numbers show that everything is worst under the NPP administration. After about eight years of being the Head of the Economic Management Team, today, the scorecard is out on the National Debt; Exchange Rate; GDP; Debt to GDP Ration; Inflation; Credit Rating; Revenue generation; Unemployment Rate; Budget Deficit; Corruption Perception Index; and many more, and the evidence is that H.E. John Mahama’s era was far better in all of these indicators than the era of Vice President Bawumia and Nana Akufo Addo.
The Battle of Effective Campaigning:
Again paragraph 1 at page 3 of the statement states as follows:
As we set out to campaign for the presidency and the future of this country, we stand united and energized on a common platform.
Which NPP do they mean is united and energized? Is it the NPP with the significant breakaway faction led by Mr. Alan Kyeremanteng? Their statement also alluded to a burgeoning energy and growing enthusiasm at their grassroots. This is just a notorious joke. Who does not know that Alhaji Bawumia did not attract the expected massive endorsement of the grassroots? Who does not also know that the party became seriously divided as a result of forcing Alhaji Bawumia on the party by Nana Addo’s kitchen cabinet?
Paragraph 3 on page 3 of the statement provides the following among others:
The big issue for 2024 comes down to the two personalities. Which of the two main candidates will Ghanaians want as their next leader after 2024? The one who was given his chance and blew it through his incompetence or the one who has shown what he can do even as a Vice President and is now asking to also be given the opportunity to show what he can do as a President? We are daring the main opposition Party to come to a debate on the two personalities.
They referred to H. E. John Mahama as the one who was given his chance and he “blew it.” But this is just their narrative, which many believed prior to the 2016 elections, but which everyone has now found out to be false. In fact, when Ghanaians did not have the privilege to assess Nana Akufo Addo and Bawumia before the 2016 elections, many did believe that John Mahama was indeed incompetent. But that is no longer the case now. Ghanaians are now calling on Mr. Mahama to come back since they discovered that he was far more competent that Nana Akufo Addo and Alhaji Bawumia combined.
In fact, many Ghanaians think that even if H.E. John Mahama would not improve upon his performance of 2013 to 2016, he shall nevertheless be far better than Alhaji Bawumia, whose competence is nothing to write home about. He is running away from all the bad records of the government he is a Vice President of, but asking for glory for all their perceived achievements. Ghanaians cannot trust this kind of person anymore.
Also in their statement they sought to portray Alhaji Bawumia as a decisive leader. Really? The man who was expected to have nominated his running mate about 5 months ago, but who has still not been able to make that decision cannot be described as more decisive than his contenders.
I find it amazing that Mr. Miracles Aboagye writes that they are daring us to come and debate on H. E. John Mahama and Veep Alhaji Bawumia. As far as we of NDC are concerned, this debate has been ongoing for a couple of years now, and we shall continue to hammer the point home that H.E. John Mahama is more trustworthy, authentic, honest, serious, and competent than Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.
