Tema Port truck drivers to embark on sit-down strike May 6

Truck drivers operating within the Tema port have officially announced their intention to commence a sit-down strike on Monday, May 6, 2024. This action comes in response to a myriad of challenges they face, including frequent attacks by armed robbers, harassment from uniformed personnel, and instances of unlawful detention. Urging for prompt resolutions, the drivers are demanding immediate actions to address these pressing concerns.

According to an official statement released by the drivers, they have unanimously agreed that no trucks will be operational at the Ghanaian ports on Monday, May 6. Additionally, they have disclosed plans to convene a press conference on the same day at the JAPTU Ghana Secretariat, situated within the premises of the Tema Port.

Effective Monday 6th May, 2024 NO TRUCK MOVES at the ports of Ghana.
